Early Life: Before Michael Jordan officially became a basketball player, he use to play in other sports as ayoung kid such as, baseball and football. As a young boy he used to be on a team at Dixie Youth Baseball Association where he played pitcher in baseball. When he reached his teenager years in his sophomore year is when Michael Jordan decided to try out for basketball but he did not get picked. But later on joined the varsity team. Michael Jordan’s performance in high school is what captured the attention of the University of Carolina where it marked the beginning of Michael Jordan’s basketball life. On ESPN, Michael Jordan talked about being recruited to North Carolina University and what it was like.“But at North Carolina, when they recruited me and asked me to attend the university, it was an opportunity to prove myself. Up to that point, everybody had heard that this kid is pretty good, but we don't know how good. He came from a small town. He wasn't preseason All-American. He wasn't in the Top 100 High School kids. He didn't attend AAU games, and he was not a ranked player in the nation. The University of North Carolina really gave me the foundation that it took to become a basketball Player.”

Dizzy, nauseated, and exhausted, Jordan still contributed his patented late-game heroics. Trailing the Jazz by one point with 47 seconds to play, Jordan made a free throw, got the rebound after missing the second one, and nailed a 3-pointer to win the game. When the clock finally expired, Jordan collapsed to the court in exhaustion. The game came to be known in NBA lore as the Michael Jordan "flu game". Bulls head coach Phil Jackson later called it the greatest game he'd ever seen Jordan play. The Bulls would close out the series in Game 6, and clinch their second straight title.”
